Think you’ve seen it all? Wait until the sun goes down. Bonaire’s underwater world transforms completely. Watch octopuses hunt, parrotfish sleeping in the reef, neon shimmer of plankton, the glowing displays of ostracods, or perhaps the color spectacles during a UV dive. We dare to bet we can surprise you.

Night dives can be booked with a small group dive as well as a private dive.

For UV Night Dive & Ostracod Night Dive, previous night dive experience and good buoyancy control is required.

Your Night Diving experience

Shortly after sunset, you’ve geared up and entered the water. As you descend, your vision starts to narrow. Only the beam of your torch provides you clarity and focus. Staying close to your buddy is more important than ever.

Your guide makes sure to check on you regularly while you start exploring together. Octopuses are hunting, moray eels slither away into the coral, and when you look closely you see hidden sleeping fish. It is a different sight than what you’ve seen during the day.

Ultraviolet (UV) Night Dive

With the use of a special UV dive light and yellow mask filter, you will witness the fluorescent colors of marine life in Bonaire. Think of corals, anemones, and sea creatures glowing in neon, unlike their appearance during a normal night dive.

Because this dive requires good control and awareness, previous night diving experience and solid buoyancy skills are required.

Ostracod Night Dive

Male ostracods create shimmering chains of blue light to attract females. It is a truly unique sight described as an ‘underwater galaxy’ which only occurs in a few places in the world. Bonaire is one of them.

To participate, previous night diving experience and good buoyancy control are required.
