How does it
work?
We dive with special lights that emit a blue light which is
specifically designed and tested to generate the maximum
amount of biofluorescence and with specially designed filter
visors to filter out the blue. Certain marine life will
absorb part of the blue light and emit a different color
light in return. This effect is called fluorescence. It is
NOT the same as bioluminescence which divers can witness on
almost any night dive (the sparkling plankton… the ‘pixie
dust’ effect). Biofluorescence is much more vibrant and in a
whole array of colors. You’ll see green, yellow, orange,
white, red, gold, purple…and in a magical (some say somewhat
psychedelic) display of light. Words or even pictures can’t
do it justice. You’ll have to experience it firsthand.
VIP Diving is a pioneer in the field of recreational UV
night diving. We have been doing the UV night dives since
2006 and were one of the first dive operators in the world
offering this unique experience. It is still only a small
elite group of people that have done this dive so you will
be able to impress your diver friends if you become part of
this elite group.
We do our UV night dives (as we do with all our guided
dives) in small groups only. This means you’ll have a very
personal en comfortable experience. Each diver carries two
lights. One regular dive light (which you need to bring
yourself), preferably a small light. We will supply the UV
gear.
