Bonaire's East Coast Diving

Divers all over the world know about the easy and yet gorgeous shore diving of Bonaire. The island is already called the "Shore diving capital of the world" for many years.

However, Bonaire also offers something else. The east coast of Bonaire is often refferred to as the "Wild side". Still, this side of the island offers several locations where diving is possible.

East Coast Dive Sites:

Baby Beach
Full surf entry and exit, a coral reef that is hardly interesting. Why go here? Big Game! Here we often see Reef Shark and Nurse Shark. Huge Southern Sting Rays resting in the sand are almost guaranteed.

Big Sponge
The dreamiest of all drift dives!
The drop off along this section of coast line is a very gradual slope.
Thus stretching out the area of most abundant coral growth between 25 and 50 feet to a seemingly endless and luscious reef.

Black Rock
A great mix of beautiful coral and interesting fish life. This dive starts with a 3 feet high giant stride. The shallows at the top of the drop off are best described as a being a Swiss Cheese.

Boka Onima
What makes this dive so special is the coral. From what we have seen so far, this is the most beautiful coral reef around the island. The coral formations are found between 60 and roughly 100 feet.

Boka Spelonk
An all out spectacular dive with lots of stuff to check out along the way. Somewhat intimidating looking from topside but ever so beautiful below the water.

Boka Washikemba
This dive is lots of fun. There is a nice stretch of coral reef between 60 and 100 feet. But the real fun part is toward the end of the dive where there are many very large rock formations which make for a labyrinth of caverns, bridges, tunnels and holes to swim through.

Ireland
A stunning coral dive which derives its name from two truly unique and extremely large patches of Pencil Coral. It sort of gives you the idea of the grassy meadows on the hills of Ireland.

Lac Cai
An amazing fish dive and of all east coast dives this is the most accessible one with a very easy and sheltered entry and exit. Click for more information

Lac Cai at night
If you like night dives, this one is a must do dive! We have night dived many sites on the west coast of Bonaire as well as some different sites on the east coast. But none of them produce such large numbers of critters at night as Cai.

Smurf City and the Spelonk Drift Dives
Smurf City is named for its stunning coral garden. It is made up of huge brain and star coral formations all packed very close together and situated on a rolling hill. Like a village of large mushrooms on a hill. Click for more information

The Chairs
Another wonderful drift dive with gorgeous coral reef and some interesting features to top it off.
The shallows have several Elkhorn Corals of monumental proportions. They make a diver next to it look small.
